Visual needs are unique.

The  cornea  has a direct impact on  a customer’s vision prescription and the quality of the retinal image, while changes of the  pupil size  affect retinal illuminance and depth of focus, which both have an impact on acuity.

The pupil responds to light by adapting its size according to different light conditions. With age, the pupil loses the ability to dilate.  Interestingly, even within the same age group, the average pupil diameter also differs from person to person.

Lenses should address todays’ visual needs.

The average customer’s lifestyle has drastically changed over the past few years. They live in a fast-paced world, constantly connected, both on- and offline.  Good, comfortable vision is crucial to take on every day, confident and aware. People tend to have their eyes glued to digital devices even when they are on the move. Constantly switching between digital devices and physical surroundings keep your customers' eyes busier than ever and may lead to uncomfortable vision or eye strain. This can make even ordinary tasks feel harder, or worse – let life’s details go unnoticed. It’s important that you don’t only offer customers clear central vision but also smooth peripheral vision. It will help them to easily switch between different distances and directions.  Furthermore, visual needs change with age. This can be attributed to two key factors: a decrease in the amplitude of accommodation and a decrease in pupil diameter.

SmartView Technology  utilised in the new and complete SmartLife Portfolio from ZEISS is a response to these relevant consumer insights and extensive research.

Professional eye measurement powered by ZEISS i.Profiler plus.

Accurate and complete information is the key to providing lenses that perfectly meet customers’ individual needs. ZEISS i.Profiler  plus delivers a personal eye profile for each patient – far beyond the limits of traditional refraction.

ZEISS i.Profiler  plus enables you to perform an in depth, accurate analysis of your customers’ eyes, so you instantly gain a holistic view of their personal eye data.

  • Fast and highly accurate wavefront measurement and analysis of your customer’s eyes resulting in a unique Visual Optics Profile.9
  • ZEISS i.Profiler  plus determines the individual pupil size of each person.
Key benefits
  • 60 seconds  to automatically profile both eyes.10
  • 20/20  visual acuity in 94% of patients.11
  • 50%  time reduction during subjective refraction.12

ZEISS i.Profiler plus enables our most customisable lens portfolio.

It supports you in finding and explaining the best possible solution for each customer, as it equips you with detailed pre-information for an accurate subjective refraction:

  • Current visual optics profile including higher order aberrations and corneal data.
  • Highly accurate objective refraction.
  • ZEISS i.Scription analysis.

In addition, the unique visual optics profile incorporates the individual pupil size of each patient.

ZEISS Individual Luminance Design Technology results in more precise lenses.13

ZEISS Individual Luminance Design Technology considers the unique pupil size in all-day light situations based on the ZEISS i.Profiler  plus  measurement and the date of birth of the customer:

ZEISS i.Profiler  plus  measurement:
The average light exposure of the eye during the ZEISS i.Profiler  plus  measurement is 100 cd / m².14

Transformation of the data for all-day light conditions:
The average luminance during the day is ~ 60 cd / m².14  Therefore, the average pupil diameter for both eyes will be transformed from the measurement light situation to an all-day light situation.

Realistic comparison  based on age:
ZEISS ensures that the resulting individual pupil size is within a reasonable tolerance of ± 1 mm according to the age of the customer.15
